AHAD-AP in collaboration with CMC Vellore, India organized a 3 days virtual hands-on workshop on Basic Coagulation Laboratory for Diagnosis of Bleeding Disorders from 14-16th December 2020
A basic level coagulation laboratory in a health care setup that looks after patients with increased bleeding tendency should be able to identify the causes of bleeding with the help of screening tests, mixing studies, inhibitor screening and if possible the severity of abnormality by factor assays.
With the above aim, a virtual hands-on workshop on Basic Coagulation Laboratory for Diagnosis of Bleeding Disorders was held from 14-16th December 2020, in collaboration with Christian Medical College Vellore, India.
The virtual hands-on workshop was scheduled for three hours a day and was attended by 32 participants from 9 Haemophilia Treatment Centres across 6 countries in the Asia Pacific. The participants were mostly Medical Laboratory Technologists, Laboratory physicians and few haematologists.
The course lead of the workshop was Dr. Tulasi Geevar from the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Immunohematology Christian Medical College, Vellore India. Other facultes were Dr. Sukesh C Nair, Dr. Rutvi Dave and Mr. G Surender Singh from the same institute.
The hands-on workshop revolved around recorded and live demonstrations of screening tests, mixing studies and inhibitor screening. The participants also had the opportunity to perform, analyse, interpret and share the results with the faculties with the technical and logistic support from Sysmex Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. The educational activity was supported by a unrestricted grant from Takeda and Roche.
